Survivor Shelter

SAFE on Main offers a safe, peaceful, and healing environment in our 14 bed confidentially located shelter.  Professionally trained staff provide help and support for adults and their children who are in a domestic violence related emergency situation.  Our services are trauma-informed, client centered, and available 24/7.

Domestic abuse and violence is a universal societal problem that does not discriminate.  It can happen to anyone regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, income, social status, education level, health status, or profession.

SAFE on Main Family Violence Program

The program provides:

  • 24/7 Sheltering Services for survivors of domestic violence and their dependents
  • Legal and Court advocacy
  • Individualized Safety Planning
  • Individual and Group Support Counseling
  • Information and Referral for judicial, legal, financial, mental health, and housing, and other community resources
  • TTY and foreign language translations

SAFE on Main provides each sheltered family with a safe place to make decisions and to discuss often complicated relationships, dire financial and legal circumstances, health problems, contradictory feelings, and confused thinking.  Each resident is aided in setting his/her direction and goals through a detailed case plan that reflects the diversity of each resident’s needs, circumstances, and future direction.

Children's Program

SAFE on Main recognizes that children who witness violence are traumatically impacted and need to feel safe and heard. A child-friendly play area is designed to encourage independent and group activities under the leadership of a full-time Children’s Advocate.

Therapy

SAFE on Main's on-staff licensed therapist provides trauma-informed therapy for individuals receiving ARCS intervention services resulting from domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.
